05 Canterbury, White Cliffs & Dover £33

Canterbury, White Cliffs & Dover, Sunday 05th May (On sale from 05th April)
Price: £33

Canterbury is full of fascinating history. Between St Martin’s Church, St Augustine’s Abbey and the Cathedral where Thomas Becket was gruesomely murdered back in 1170, there’s plenty of past to delve into on our tour of Canterbury. Pilgrims and visitors have made their way to Canterbury Cathedral since the Middle Ages. It remains one of the most visited places in the country, and, just as important, a living community. Following on from Canterbury we then head to the White Cliffs of Dover, which are one of this country’s most spectacular natural features. They are an official Icon of Britain and have been a sign of hope and freedom for centuries. You can appreciate their beauty and enjoy their special appeal through the seasons by taking one of the dramatic cliff top walks offering unrivalled views of the busy English Channel and the French coast. After you’ve admired the beauty of the Cliffs we then make our way to Dover Castle, one of the largest castles in the country, strategically located at the shortest crossing point to continental Europe, Dover Castle has played a prominent part in national history. Its origins lie in the Iron Age, and a Roman Lighthouse and Anglo-Saxon church can still be seen within the grounds.

Tour includes:
Return coach travel with Anderson Tours
Fully guided walking tour of Canterbury
Canterbury Cathedral Entry
Dover Castle Entry
Services of an Anderson Tours Group Leader

10-14 Ukraine Kiev Long Weekend £250

Ukraine Kiev Long Weekend, Friday, 10th – Tuesday, 14th May (BY APPLICATION ONLY)
Price: £250

Big, diverse and largely undiscovered, Ukraine is one of Europe’s last genuine travel frontiers, a poor nation rich in colour-splashed tradition, warm hearted people and off-the-map travel experiences.

The word ‘Ukraine’ means ‘land on the edge’, an apt title for this vast slab of Eurasia in more ways than one. This is the Slavic hinterland on Europe’s periphery, European Russia’s underbelly on the doorstep of Central Asia and the fringe of the Black Sea, but it’s also a country creeping slowly towards the edge of change and modernity. Things are shifting forward little by little in Europe’s biggest country. One look at the renovated city centres, well-dressed townsfolk, resurfaced roads and all the glistening infrastructure bolted in place for the 2012 European Soccer Championships (the world’s third-largest sporting event) is enough to see that after two decades of independence, Ukraine is edging long-term toward where it aspires to be.
